Doctor's Portal Deployment on Hostinger VPS

This project focuses on deploying and securing a production web application on a Hostinger VPS server, with a custom domain purchased and configured through Hostinger.

Doctor's Portal Deployment on Hostinger VPS

About this project

My main responsibility was to take the application from a GitHub repository to a fully live, production-ready deployment. I provisioned the VPS, secured the server, configured the domain and set up high availability using an Nginx load balancer running multiple application instances on a single server. I configured server-level security by creating a dedicated non-root application user, restricting SSH access, enabling a firewall, and exposing only the necessary ports through Nginx. Nginx was set up as a reverse proxy and load balancer to distribute traffic across multiple PM2-managed application instances, ensuring the app stays available even if one instance fails. SSL was configured using Certbot to serve the site securely over HTTPS with automatic certificate renewal. What I Implemented * Provisioned and secured a Hostinger VPS server for production deployment * Purchased and configured a custom domain through Hostinger * Created a dedicated non-root user with restricted SSH and sudo access * Configured UFW firewall rules to secure server ports * Deployed the Node.js application using PM2 with multiple instances for high availability * Set up Nginx as a reverse proxy and load balancer across application instances * Secured the domain with HTTPS using Certbot and enabled automatic renewal * Ensured the application restarts automatically on server reboot Technologies Used · Node.js · Nginx · PM2 · Hostinger VPS · Certbot (SSL) · Git · GitHub · Ubuntu/Linux The main goal of this project was to take full ownership of production deployment server provisioning, domain setup, security hardening and high availability ensuring the application runs reliably and securely for real users.
